Since 1972, my professional journey has been in the flooring industry. It began when I took on the role of an installer’s helper in that very year. Building upon this foundation, I went on to establish and manage my own installation business from 1981 to 1990. Subsequently, my focus transitioned to the sales aspect of the flooring industry in 1990. This trajectory led me to a wholesale sales position at L. D. Brinkman K.C. Branch in 1996, affording me the privilege of engaging with a diverse range of flooring dealers and installers. This interaction not only deepened my understanding of the multifaceted flooring business but also provided me with the opportunity to share my knowledge with others.In the year 2000, I embraced the role of a manager at a local flooring store in Columbia, Missouri. This position opened doors to valuable engagements with buying group committees and an array of learning pursuits. In 2010, I accepted a management role at a flooring store in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Here, we oversaw an installation team comprised of 40 skilled flooring professionals and a sales force of 25. These cumulative experiences inspired me to become an independent Certified Flooring Inspector. The primary objective was to leverage the wealth of insights I had accumulated to assist clients with their diverse flooring-related queries and opportunities.In April of 2023, I transitioned from day-to-day management of flooring stores to become a full-time Independent Flooring Inspector, culminating my extensive 50-year involvement in the flooring industry.
