Mixed yarn, sometimes called “Chicken Tracks” can occur when an incorrect yarn type such as nylon 6, is mixed with a carpet constructed with nylon 6.6 or vice versa. If the discolored yarn is long (seen in the length direction through the whole roll), then it is probably a mixed yarn.
