ANSI/HPVA EF 2020 Section 4.2 – Bond Line / Three Cycle Soak Test
ANSI/HPVA EF 2020 Section 4.2 – Bond Line / Three Cycle Soak Test
This method comes from the ANSI/HPVA EF 2020 American National Standard for Engineered Wood Flooring. It’s the most common and recommended method for evaluating bond performance of engineered wood flooring. Samples are cut into 2” x 5” pieces and subjected to three cycles of soaking (4 hours in 75F water) and drying (19 hours in 50C oven). Specimens are evaluated for delamination after the 1st and 3rd cycles. Delamination is defined as separation of two plies that is greater than 2” in continuous length, over ¼” deep at any point, and 0.08” wide. 95% of specimens must pass the 1st cycle and 85% must pass the 3rd cycle.
