Bare and Bald Spots (Carpet)
Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Bare and bald spots are localized areas of yarn loss where tuft bundles detach from the carpet backing, exposing the primary backing material. The condition reflects loss of tuft retention rather than normal appearance change and is typically irregular in shape, occurring as isolated spots or small clusters rather than consistent traffic patterns. Contributing conditions may include contamination, moisture exposure, animal activity, mechanical disturbance, or reduced tuft bind, and do not independently establish a manufacturing defect without supporting evidence. See also Snags, Delamination, and Carpet Problems for broader context.
