​Kelly started his floorcovering career in 1987 as a part-time job, and by 1988 turned it into a full-time career installing laminate counters, Vinyl, and Marmoleum flooring. After a few years, he started setting tile backsplashes. In 1991 he started his own company and continued to install Tile/Stone and Glass blocks, and added Hardwood flooring to his skillset. By 2002 Kelly had turned the company into a full-service installation company offering All surface installations for residential and light commercial. In 2015 Kelly spent several years working in the Area Floors showroom helping his wife in her flooring business. After his 35 years in the floorcovering trade on both the installation and retail sides, he decided to turn his attention to the inspection side of the process. He started the process with the NWFA inspection certification, then the IFCII inspection certifications for Hardsurface, Vinyl, and Carpet, and the NALFA inspection certification for Laminate flooring.​
